Author, Film Producer, Songwriter, Scriptwriter Beryl Crosher-Segers is a multifaceted creative talent and the acclaimed author of A Darker Shade of Pale, a powerful memoir capturing her experience growing up during apartheid in South Africa, and Behind My Smile: The True Story of an Author, a Broken Spirit, and a Healer. Her work is deeply rooted in themes of resilience, healing, and the pursuit of justice. Beryl’s storytelling is both reflective and transformative, offering a lens into overcoming adversity and embracing self-empowerment. After relocating to Australia in the 1980s with her family in search of greater opportunities, Beryl channeled her passion for the arts into founding One World Community Arts Network, a project dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity through music. This commitment to uplifting marginalised voices led her to establish C Major Events, where she leveraged her background in government administration and her dedication to supporting emerging talent from her hometown. Beryl’s contributions to the community have been widely recognized, earning her accolades such as the Celebrate Africa–Australian Captain’s Award for service to the South African community and the Jo Wilton Memorial Award for Women’s Human Rights from the University of Technology, Sydney. In recent years, Beryl expanded her creative repertoire by venturing into songwriting, with tracks like Colour Blind, Grace, Pieces of Dreams, and Look At Us Now gaining traction online. Her passion for storytelling remains strong as she works on her upcoming psychological thriller, Silent Tracks, and a creative fiction piece, Secret Harbour, both set for release in late 2023. Beryl holds a Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Technology, Sydney, continuing to hone her craft and explore new narratives.
